Gunny German Shepherd Dog Adult Male for sale in Greensboro, North Carolina

Gunny's story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
GUNNY ~2 years old.  Not good with kids, dogs, or cats.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

Gunny is an exceptionally handsome boy who has a taste for socks! No really...socks! He used to be able to eat them without much issue, but recently, his bad habit caught up with him and landed him in BIG trouble! Extensive intestinal surgery and 4 socks later, Gunny is on the mend and vowing to quit his habit of eating socks and other miscellaneous items!
Before coming to GSRA (who took over his care once his former owners weren't able to afford his life saving surgery), Gunny seems to have had at least 2 other homes. The history is a little murky, but based on Gunny's personality, it seems he's had a lot of instability in his short life. He is very reactive and insecure with new people, new dogs and new situations. Luckily though, he is easily won over with offers of food. Gunny is SUPER food motivated, which makes him a wonderful candidate for obedience work and other forms of training. It also makes him a rather "enthusiastic" counter surfer...and with long, lanky legs, kitchen counters are an easy hunting ground for this mischievous boy!
Gunny's other passion is playing fetch, and being chased. He is an extremely fun-loving boy once he relaxes and seems to really enjoy playing with his human companions. Rounding out Gunny's other admirable qualities are the facts that he is crate and house trained and has almost mastered the "place" command.
Gunny will need a patient, GSD-savvy home who will continue working to socialize him. Gunny may do well with a laid back, confident canine buddy, but for the time being he is enjoying being the center of attention in his foster home. We do not recommend cats or children for Gunny as he is still very much a puppy and is equal parts energetic and clumsy.
Gunny has been through a lot in his short life. These changes have unsettled him to some extent. Despite this though, he is a typical GSD in that he LOVES his humans and will try his very best to please them. If you have the GSD experience and time to smooth out Gunny's rough edges, please consider making him a permanent member of your family.
